Listing details for 85 Pine Rd, Norris, TN 37828 : Few local communities are as sought after as Norris, Tennessee-what historians call ''The Town the Dam Built.'' This sleepy little town is a cross between Mayberry and a resort village. Typically,it is near impossible to find a house for sale in Norris, especially one of the original homes built for the pioneers and builders of the dam on Norris Lake in 1933. Now imagine having the opportunity to buy a home filled with notable history dating back to 1935. Not only is it an original Norris home, but it's found on one of the most desirable streets - Pine Road. Each house set apart from its neighbor; each unique and yet traditionally built. History abounds in this original Norris home. Not only was the home's garden featured in a 1945 Better Homes and Garden article about World War II's Victory Gardens, but even more exciting is a photo showing a visit with the home's first owners with none other than First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt herself (see photo)! Mrs. Roosevelt took tea at 85 Pine Road during a historic visit and tour of the Norris Dam building project. Jason Deel TAL# 6826 85 Pine Road was purchased by Doris (Dougal) Dunn in 1970. Ms. Dunn has resided in the residence for 52 years and would still be there today if not for aging health. The historic home was remodeled in the late 1970s; received a new roof in 2015; and new insulation in the crawl space beneath the entire home, including a complete vapor barrier in 2022. The quaint home boasts clear pine throughout the interior, not the knotty pine found in today's lumber. The yard is one of the home's best features; It sits on a spacious lot measuring approximately .47 acres. The house sits back from the road at a slight angle, giving the appearance of a corner lot. As you approach the house from a paved driveway, you are struck immediately by the welcoming yard, landscaped with a wide variety of gorgeous flowers, plants and trees. The grassy lawn and lovely gardens are just waiting for you to tend them and return them to their former glory. The property also has two manmade ponds-one with a little waterfall feature.
